BGP’s selection was based on their commitment to biodiversity and wildlife, community conservation, and environmental education. 1% for the Planet is an accountability partner for businesses that give back to environmental partners across the globe. Started in 2002, “The intent of 1% for the Planet is to help fund these diverse environmental organizations so that collectively they can be a more powerful source in solving the world’s problems,” writes Yvon Chouinard, co-founder of 1%. As an Environmental Partner BGP joins 4,765 incredible organizations representing 110 countries, working across the globe to deliver proven, transformative, and inclusive solutions to environmental challenges. To become a member, organizations must have a business member sponsor.
