DAILY PROGRESS – Volunteers planted a small flower bed with shrubs and perennials donated by supporters to establish the first planting at the site of the future Botanical Garden of the Piedmont on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016. A portion of the garden, located in McIntire Park at the intersection of Melbourne Road and the John W. Warner Parkway, is estimated to be ready to open in late 2018.
CBS 19 – Volunteers were busy Wednesday morning planting the first signs of life at the Botanical Garden of the Piedmont.
The reality of the future garden has been in the works for many years, but thanks to the hard work and dedication of the garden’s board, as well as the City of Charlottesville, things will start to look a little more green.
NBC 29 – The first planting is now complete on site of the future Botanical Garden of the Piedmont. Volunteers with the McIntire Botanical Board gathered at the garden space Wednesday morning to plant a native black gum tree, as well as shrubs and perennials.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – A group of volunteers and members of the Botanical Garden of the Piedmont Board will gather Wednesday, December 14, starting at 9 a.m. to plant a small flower bed – the first established planting – on the site in Charlottesville’s McIntire Park where the future Garden will be located. A native Black Gum tree, shrubs and perennials, all donated by generous supporters, will be arranged around the existing the Garden sign at the intersection of Melbourne Road and the John W. Warner Parkway.
