Discover the Magic of Native Butterflies: Free Guided Tour with Nancy Weiss

Join us on Sunday, August 3rd at 11a.m. for a free Butterfly Walk led by local naturalist Nancy Weiss. This guided tour offers a unique opportunity to explore native butterflies and the plants that help them thrive. Whether you’re a gardener, a nature lover, or just curious about pollinators, this walk is sure to inspire.

As you walk through BGP’s meadows and pollinator-friendly plantings, Nancy will point out butterflies like monarchs, swallowtails, and skippers. In fact, you’ll learn how to identify them by their colors, patterns, and behaviors. Throughout the tour, Nancy will highlight essential host and nectar plants that butterflies rely on throughout their life cycles.

Additionally, she’ll explain how these plant-insect relationships sustain local ecosystems. As you explore, you’ll gain practical tips for attracting and supporting pollinators in your own garden. You’ll leave with practical knowledge and a greater appreciation for the vital role pollinators play in our ecosystems.

The trail includes gentle slopes, grassy patches, and mulched paths, so sturdy, waterproof footwear is recommended. Moreover, this event is designed for both adults and children, making it perfect for families. Feel free to ask questions—Nancy welcomes curiosity!

Because space is limited, we encourage early registration. To reserve your spot, email rsvp@piedmontgarden.org with the subject line “Butterfly Walk” and note your preferred tour time.
