THE FINAL SPRING SESSION OF LITTLE NATURE EXPLORERS HAS BEEN CANCELED.

PLEASE WATCH THE BGP WEBSITE, NEWSLETTER, AND SOCIAL MEDIA FOR THE START OF THE SUMMER LITTLE NATURE EXPLORERS SESSION.

Little Nature Explorers is a weekly outdoor program created for young children ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers. This free event takes place every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the beautiful setting of the Garden. It combines early childhood learning with the magic of nature, offering a fresh experience each week.

Each session features a new topic that includes story time, hands-on art, and outdoor discovery. Through movement, creativity, and close observation, children explore the natural world in ways that are both educational and fun. The program encourages curiosity, builds sensory awareness, and fosters early connections to plants, animals, and the seasons.

This week’s exciting theme is Milkweed, a vital wildflower found in the Garden. Children will learn how milkweed helps monarch butterflies survive and why it’s so important to protect it. We’ll observe real milkweed plants, hear stories about their tiny winged visitors, and learn about these important plants. Through these activities, kids will discover how even the smallest plants support big life cycles.

The series runs from March 25th through May 13th, weather permitting. The program will be canceled only in cases of thunder or high winds. Rain won’t stop the adventure—just bring a coat and boots!

Although walk-ins are welcome, we recommend registering by emailing programs@piedmontgarden.org. Registration ensures you’ll receive reminders and updates.

Little Nature Explorers offers families a chance to slow down and enjoy meaningful moments outside. The Garden becomes a classroom filled with wonder and discovery. Come explore with us and help your child build a lifelong love of nature—one Tuesday at a time.
