Little Nature Explorers – Skunks

Little Nature Explorers is a weekly outdoor program created for young children ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers. This free event takes place every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the beautiful setting of the Garden. It combines early childhood learning with the magic of nature, offering a fresh experience each week.

Each session features a new topic that includes story time, hands-on art, and outdoor discovery. Through movement, creativity, and close observation, children explore the natural world in ways that are both educational and fun. The program encourages curiosity, builds sensory awareness, and fosters early connections to plants, animals, and the seasons.

This week’s exciting theme is Skunk – learn how they live, what they eat, and the clever ways they protect themselves—all through fun stories, activities, and outdoor exploration.

The series runs from September 23rd through November 4th, weather permitting. The program will be canceled only in cases of thunder or high winds. Rain won’t stop the adventure—just bring a coat and boots!

Although walk-ins are welcome, we recommend registering by emailing programs@piedmontgarden.org. Registration ensures you’ll receive reminders and updates.

Little Nature Explorers – Skunks offers families a chance to slow down and enjoy meaningful moments outside. The Garden becomes a classroom filled with wonder and discovery. Come explore with us and help your child build a lifelong love of nature—one Tuesday at a time.
