Planting the Future Garden

We’re pleased to share this early look at the Garden’s conceptual planting plans – a key step in translating vision into reality. These designs reflect the depth of thought behind every landscape decision, guided by our commitment to native plants, biodiversity, and long-term stewardship.

Garden Stewardship Philosophy

A public garden is a living, evolving landscape that requires thoughtful stewardship, ecological sensitivity, and long term vision. Botanical Garden of the Piedmont’s Stewardship Philosophy establishes the values and principles that guide all care of the Garden’s living landscape. It affirms a commitment to ecological integrity, sustainability, and community benefit, ensuring that maintenance action supports the Garden’s mission of education, conservation, and public enjoyment.

This philosophy provides the stable foundation for all operational decisions, shaping how the Garden stewards soil, water, plants, wildlife, and visitor experience. It is designed to endure over time, even as the Garden grows and conditions evolve.
