Charlottesville Area Tree Stewards Tom Wild and Donna Vinal will lead this walk on the trails at the site of the future Botanical Garden of the Piedmont. What tree is that? Learn how to identify trees using their leaves, bark, twigs, buds, seed casings, nuts, and many other features. Recognize the dozens of native Virginia trees that can be seen in the forests of the area. Registration is required; attendance is limited to 25 people.
Directions: From Rt. 250, take John W. Warner Parkway north to the first signal light at Melbourne Road. Turn left on Melbourne and proceed about 100 yards. On the left is a sign for the Future Home of Botanical Garden of the Piedmont. Take the driveway next to the sign through the gate and park on the grass area to the left, beyond the gate.
